Executive Privilege? Sorry, not yours...

Recently, you may have noticed that the January 6th committee on the attempted insurrection coup has issued subpoenas for info on possible behind the scenes actions regarding said attempt. And, some are saying that they will NOT abide by them, because a Former President said that he was invoking his 'right of Executive Privilege' to stop it. Unfortunately for those concerned, he can't.

You see, Executive Privilege is only viable when you're still President, and he isn't. "But", some might say, "How do you KNOW he's not President? Explain THAT!"
Simple....he's getting the Presidential pension, which former Presidents can receive once they are NO LONGER PRESIDENT. You can't get it if you're still in office. So, there's that...

I think the funniest thing about this is, these people are the kinds (and some might be the same ones) who refused to submit to subpoenas when he was still in office, because the Department of Justice (DoJ) was picked by him, so they would do his bidding. As such, the people served by the Dems just said, "No. What are you gonna do about it?" And, they couldn't do anything about it.
Now, thought, the DoJ doesn't work for the Former President, so they don't have that same protection. They can be arrested, detained, fines, etc. and he can't do anything about it. Not that it matters anyway, because people who were his allies in the past ended up twisting in the wind when they got into trouble, expecting him to step up and save them. He's powerless to prevent them from being served, and can't stop them from being jailed if they refuse.

Should be interesting to see how this plays out....
